Back to the Cold

We are really missing Hawaii right now! We are back in Utah, freezing our butts off. It has snowed every day that we've been here. But it sure is gorgeous.

Waiaka and I were able to spend the past few days at his cousin Brittney's house. We love spending time with her family. Her kids are so cute!

We have spent a good amount of time wedding planning while in Utah. We finally chose and purchased our outfits for engagement pictures. We went shopping in downtown Salt Lake City which is always a good time. I love seeing all the pretty Christmas lights! Especially at Temple Square.

Waiaka and I were also able to attend a wedding for one of Waiaka's mission companions. They were married in the Manti temple. I had never been there before and had a great time soaking in the beauty of that temple. They had a small reception the day before that had a hot chocolate bar which I thought was a really fun idea. After the sealing, there was a luncheon with close friends and family. It was nice for Waiaka to spend time with his close friends and it was fun for me to finally meet them!

Overall, this Utah trip has been pretty busy but really fun.  We are off to Chicago tonight to spend Christmas with my family. We can't wait!

Unfortunately, today is our last day in Hawaii. Lucky for you, we made this awesome video that shows little tastes of trip as a whole. I think this one is my favorite one so far!

Hawaii

They weren't kidding when they said Hawaii is paradise. The combination of the salty breeze and the warm sun on your skin brings about a euphoric feeling that you never want to lose. Whether you're stressed with school, or stuck in a slump at work, paradise can fix that. All worries and cares are left on the jet bridge as you get off the plane. You can escape the cold and dreary winter for a place that's summer all year long.

In my opinion, many people that haven't been to Hawaii envision it to be a place where you go to bum out on the beach all day and go surfing. That is not the case. Don't get me wrong, the beaches are beautiful and very enjoyable, but there's so much more to these islands. We have spent most of our days here exploring waterfalls and volcanoes. You can go to beaches in Florida and California. They are exactly the same as the beaches here in Hawaii. If you want to get the full experience, explore.

One of my most favorite experiences I've had here in Hawaii was visiting Akaka Falls. Not only is the waterfall gorgeous, but the drive there and the walk to the falls are breathtaking.

Waiaka and I drove to the falls in the afternoon. You're supposed to pay for parking, but we parked outside the gate so that we wouldn't get charged. If you don't pay for parking, you're supposed to pay a dollar a person to get into the park. Waiaka flashed his Hawaii driver's license and the attendant let us in for free (we're all about getting dealz). There are two paths you can take to get to the waterfall. We decided to take the longer one so that we could see more of the forest. It was also nice to go that way to get more footage for our videos. The valley that the waterfall flows into was so beautiful! It was packed full of trees, vines, flowers, and rivers. It almost seemed unreal at how beautiful and perfect it looked. I felt like I was looking into a National Geographic magazine.

The walk to the falls was very easy and pleasant. There are nice concrete paths and stairs that take you straight to the waterfall. After about 15 or 20 minutes, we reached the overlook to the waterfall. It took my breath away! I could have stared at it for days. It was so relaxing to listen to the water flow. An added bonus was there weren't many people there, so it was quite serene. After taking a few videos and pictures, we headed back on the other path to the car. This path was significantly shorter and not as pretty but it was still enjoyable. Overall, this waterfall was one of my favorite adventures Waiaka took me on in Hawaii.

Driving.

The wait is over! Yes, we made another film. It seems to be Waiaka's new hobby. He is certainly good at it though!

We had the opportunity to drive a Mustang convertible between Hilo to Kona. We were stoked! We recorded these videos, intending them to be fillers for our other films but they were so good, we made it it's own. Enjoy! We sure did.

Volcano National Park

We are so excited to be visiting Hawaii! We got here late at night on Sunday and we get to stay for a week and a half. We have already seen so many great things. Among all the exciting and beautiful things we have been able to participate in, one place we particularly loved was Volcano National Park. There were such amazing views! We made a kick-butt video to show you just how awesome it was. Enjoy!
